Today is a glorious day for the Schott NYC factory's home state, as it marks the 40th anniversary of Jersey bad ass Bruce Springsteen's debut studio album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.

Featuring classic singles such as "Blinded by the Light" and "Spirit of the Night", Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. was released exactly 40 years ago today on January 5, 1973 through Columbia Records.

The album received rave reviews from Rolling Stone that year, calling Springsteen "totally unique and cosmically surfeiting in his words". Out of 500, it was also named the 379th best album of all time by Rolling Stone in 2003.

Among countless other American bad asses over the years, Springsteen has always been a staple to Schott NYC's continually evolving brand. Most famously, the rocker is known for sporting a Schott Perfecto leather jacket on the cover of Born To Run, Springsteen's 1975 breakthrough album.

Additionally, anniversaries are important. As Bruce commemorates the 40th anniversary of Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. today, Schott NYC will also be celebrating, throughout 2013, 100 years of being an American original.
