I have a 184SM that I love, but I am constantly having to pull down the removable lining because it rides up when I am driving, or sitting down for long periods of time.  I cant imagine I am the only person who has this problem with liners just not staying put.

Does anyone else have this same issue, if so have you found a good solution??

Thanks!

Just so you fella's know I have passed along the problem you are having with the liners to the Schott family. I do not know if there is a solution but at least now they are aware. Gail

I think the only 3 solutions would be:

  1. weight the bottom of the liner
  2. button the bottom of the liner in 3 places (both sides and middle) to the inside of the jacket
  3. have a 3rd zipper that zips the bottom of the liner to jacket

This is the only complaint I have with the 184SM, it is quite annoying, but other than that the jacket is fantastic.

what i did with mine is , take it a good leather shop and have them sepreate the the permenent jacket liner, and install some snaps on the ;iner and the permenent liner  and  just snap them

worked well since i had this done  8 years ago

Gail, is the snap idea something that Schott would consider doing if I were to request it?  Its to late this year as I'll be needing the jacket in a few weeks, but when this winter is over, I would really like to resolve this issue.

I am sure it is something we could, though a snap is a pretty heavy metal to attach to the polytwill lining. I would need to talk about this to our designer and production manager, we do not want the snaps tearing the body lining from opening and closing the snaps. When you are ready to send it in, email me and I will research the possibilities. Gail

I would think that velcro would be annoying rubbing up against your clothes when the liner is out (even if its the soft strip) and if the liner was in you would constantly hear the crunching of the velcro moving around against itself.

I still like the zipper idea...but it seems like it would be difficult to impliment...I wont be sending my jacket into schott until next year, but I'll see what they can do for me then.

I have a new 184SM that I got last year and it the lining is fine, never rides up on me. I had a similar jacket years ago that I ended up removing the lining completely because the zipper would constantly open, but with the new one, the zip stays closed. I think metal snaps would be uncomfortable -- you'd probably feel them in your back when sitting.
