I have a few questions on the 641 jackets:
Does the quilted lining on the 641HH extend down through the sleeves? If no, what material is used for the sleeve lining.?
How much stiffer is the horsehide jacket when compared to the steerhide jacket? How does this change over time?
Do the horsehide and steerhide 641 jackets cut and fit identical?
thxs, JHH

The material of the sleeve is different, i think that its a black polycotton one. If you want to buy one of those jackets i will recomend you the HH, i ordered the SH but i didn't like it too much and i returned it, the HH is something different and is famous for the pattina when you finally are able to break it in, something that it's going to take you a long time, every one whit his personal preferences, but you are now in the SCHOTT world so if is naked, steerh or horseh, you are going to get quality for 10 or15 years if you don't take any care of it or more than 25 if you cleanig and apply leather care products when it need it. good luck whit your selection. |

The steerhide leather has a rigid hand, while the 641HH is a much stiffer leather and will take longer to break-in. The horsehide also has a very shiney appearance. On the 641 the upper arm measurement of the sleeve is 2" wider then the 641HH upper sleeve width. On all vintage steerhide and horsehide styles you need to purchase one size larger.
The sleeve lining in our motorcycle jackets are a durable and strong poly/cotton blend.

Thanks for input Gail.
Help me understand this sizing, so if a size 40R 641 in steerhide fits perfectly, then the size 40R 641 in horsehide will feel tight & small?
Thanks in advance for your comments, JHH |

The 641 & the 641HH in the size 40 will have the same jacket measurements and fit the same in the body. The only difference is in the upper arm of the sleeve, the upper arm of the sleeve on the 641 is 19" in circumference, the 641HH is 17". Please remember in the steerhide and horsehide jackets you need to order the jacket one size larger then your chest size. These vintage styles are still cut on the original patterns and are a smaller cut. Gail |

Gail, Your input has been very helpful, thank you. One more question.
Is the 689 HH cut and fit the same as the 641 HH?

Dear JHH, The style 641HH has a slightly smaller fit in the body measurements and the sleeve is about 3/4" shorter then the 689H jacket. If you need help with sizing you can contact me by email gail@schottnyc.com and I can help you. Gail |
